Azadeh Shladovsky

As a multi-disciplinary artist, my work investigates visual consciousness—the embodied process of seeing whereby vision functions as both lens and filter. I interrogate how perception emerges from systems of knowledge, power, and cultural conditioning that determine what becomes visible or remains concealed, revealing sight as contested terrain rather than neutral act.

My practice centers on interdisciplinary research, linguistic theory, and tactile-driven material experimentation. The resulting dialogue transforms both textual and material components into new physical substrates, destabilizing the architectures of representation.

This inquiry into visuality—how culture shapes what we see—generates new possibilities for understanding that demand multi-sensory engagement rather than passive consumption of conventional narratives.
